This post is coming so late, but great things have been happening, I was named Styleicona of the day and one of my posts were featured on Blogging Gals! Hopefully things like this continue, I was so shocked when I received the email from Styleicona saying they were going to feature me, and my piece being on the Blogging Gals website was such a surprise.

VINTAGE ADIDAS

WEARING:
Bandana│Primark
Windbreaker│Vintage Store
Nike Airforce 1
Rings│Topshop
Netball Skirt
Roll Neck│Primark
Gold Chain
Black Socks
Leopard Print Backpack

I'd been on the hunt to find a vintage windbreaker that I love for ages, and God blessed be with the opportunity to buy this one from Vintage Store in Brick Lane. I advise you take a trip there (if you like vintage shopping) the guys in there were so cool, loooollll. I bought this for just £17, somebody scream bargaiinnnnnn with me.  It doesn't even feel vintage at all when I wear it, it's in such good condition and I lavvvvv it, also the fact that it's Adidas makes me happy inside. Adidas is life.

On another note, you may notice that this is completely different to the outfit in my last post, this is because I wear what I like, I don't have any sort of generic style. One day you'll see me in a bomber jacket and cap, the next you may see me in tailored trousers and a turtle neck. Although people say they like my style, I still wonder what that is. I know exactly what I like but it comes from all different types of styles, therefore I've accepted that my style cannot be categorised, however I think there will come a point in time where I'm able to discover precisely what it is.

UNDERSTATED GREYS

30.10.14 yasminyusuf 0 Comments

Is Grey Taking Over?
Sure Black and White reign supreme when it comes to colours but grey has stepped into the limelight. Grey elevates in ways that other, brighter colours can't, especially when paired with black. It's 'understated' subtle, but powerful. My love for autumn greys is growing stronger, and my wardrobe will soon be full of grey. So, here I give you some pieces that have made me die a little inside, especially the MANGO pieces, all they do is slay.

TOPSHOP Flannel 'Mensy' Trousers, £42

MANGO Bouclé-Knit Wool-Blend Sweater, £35

MISSGUIDED Knit Co-ord , £30

& Other Stories Leather Bag, £135

MANGO Premium Boxy Wool- Blend Blouse, £35

A-S DÅVIK Wool Hat, £34

DRESS TO EMPRESS

17.10.14 yasminyusuf 0 Comments

Dress to empress; the makings of a true Goddess.
A woman with great power and influence. Are we dressing to impress or empress? The difference between the two is more than just a letter.

Are we using our 'great power' to influence style or imitating and regurgitating styles already recognisable for social acceptance. Your true aim may be to be unique and distinct but in struggling and striving to achieve that, the sole purpose is lost and wasted on the norms of a confused society. I too am a victim captivated by the world around me, but I know I have the power to change that.
After all 'the impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way' -Marcus Aurelius. The only thing stopping you, is you.

Protect the opening of your mind, what you think is what you perceive, and what you perceive is what you become. Use your mind in a positive manner, don't let the boundaries cloud your judgement and chances to succeed.
Fashion is very much about storytelling, marking the changing seasons of any person's life and styling them through it.
Whether we like it or not what we wear is more than just clothes. We 'put on' and clothe ourselves to portray a different persona each day through what we wear.
What story are you trying to tell? Who or what does it involve? What does it say to others? These, amongst many other questions is what you should think about before you step outside. If you don't know the answer - find out.

This may not apply to everybody, some of you may wonder what I'm babbling on about but the truth is I myself don't understand why I felt obliged to write this, at 12am, staring at the screen of my phone, but hopefully somebody understands and appreciates my words.

So, this post is longggg overdue, but going to London Fashion Weekend was such a good experience to have, even though I may not have got the publicity I hoped for, it was a massive learning curve.Seeing all different people with different styles, I went to one of the talks that Camilla Morton was the guest speaker for. Hearing some of her acquired knowledge, wisdom and experiences was uplifting and inspirational. She was also easily approachable and answered all questions in detail. She gave the solution to all the doubts and questions I had about writing in fashion, but also didn't 'sugarcoat' the industry. She made it known that it was no ball game, it was either you put the work in and prepare for all the sleepless nights ahead, or you get nowhere. You also always have to have an opinion, there's no two ways about it, you had to hate something or love something, there's no time for faffing around in the 'middle'. I look forward to reading and purchasing her books but most importantly 'How to Walk in High Heels'.

Whilst walking round I purchased a Cheap Monday shirt for £5 and the Maybelline 'Black Shock' Gel liner. I also collected my LFW 'goodie bag' which is free with ticket purchase, inside was a number of items, but the best were the first issue of the HELLO:FASHION magazine (which featured the one and only Olivia Palermo), Maybelline Great Lash Mascara, Garnier Cleansing Wipes, the Label M Blow Out Spray and Essie Turqoise Nail Polish.

I also saw the Trend Catwalk Show hosted by THEOUTNET.COM, which feautred AW14 trends that were really cool and wearable, the looks were all about colour with models head to toe in many different pastel colours, greens, pinks, purples, reds and also some prints.

LFW BEST DRESSED

23.9.14 yasminyusuf 0 Comments

There were so many looks to choose from but these ones made me die a little inside. In my opinion Rosie Fortescue (MIC star) was the one to beat for me, she completely smashed all her looks this LFW, she always manages to look good but these looks had a bit of extra flare, I couldn't help but be enticed by them. She had four outfit's in total, all those changes in one day, how? I do not know. But anyway back to the point. The four different outfits and the slick-back hair just made me want to shake her hand and say 'well done' it's like she made me proud even though she has no knowledge of my existence, lol. Proudlock too, I love his effortless stlye, and wild suit choice to second the stand-out tartan suit he wore last LFW. I added in a few 'street style' pictures, just to mix it up a little and obviously because I was infatuated by them, the looks were just so clean and refreshing. 'THE SLUMFLOWERs' look was one of them. It was puzzling but in the most positive manner, you look at it and don't even know what to think, you can only be intrigued, which is what fashion is about.

POWER TO THE PASTEL

WEARING:

TIE DYE CROP JUMPER│RAGGED PRIEST
MOM JEANS│TOPSHOP
TRAINERS│NIKE AIR WINDRUNNERS
WHITE BACKPACK│PRIMARK
GOLD CHAIN
ROUND SUNGLASSES│H&M
RINGS│FOREVER 21

I recently purchased this tie dye jumper by Ragged Priest and Blue High Waisted MOTO Mom Jeans during sale season whilst rummaging through Topshop. The crop jumper I bought for £15 and the jeans for £10 and £10 only, from £40 to £10? Funnily enough I didn't buy these mom jeans from an actual Topshop store, I bought them from Topshop inside Debenhams (anyone that knows me knows I love that little Topshop in Debenhams) Anyways, I almost fainted when I saw the price, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with this pair of jeans and they were the LAST pair on the rack, it was basically fate.

On another note, I'm so excited to be attending London Fashion Weekend. I've wanted to go for a long time, but never had the chance, now I have the job of putting together a super bomb outfit to wear and blog, I'll also definitely be doing a post of all my favourite looks over the days.
